Tattoo Aftercare
Tattoo aftercare is just as important as Artist application.
Please, please, please, treat your new tattoo with care.
What shouldn’t I do after a tattoo?
DO NOT listen to anyone else’s advice on how to heal your tattoo properly. Always follow your artists instructions.
DO NOT scratch or pick at your new tattoo. It is a fresh and open wound, don’t hinder your healing process.
DO NOT go swimming or immerse your new tattoo in any body of water. Other than a quick shower, you should not be dipping that body of yours anywhere.
DO NOT wear tight fitting clothing over your new tattoo. Doing so could compromise your healing process.
How long should I keep my tattoo covered after getting it?
Depending on the type of bandage applied, your tattoo artist will explain the length of time allotted for your wrap. Keep your tattoo covered (as long as your artist tells you) to protect it from bacteria and avoid infection.
After that, PLEASE follow your artists instructions.
Can I shower after getting tattooed?
Yes you can, and should!no long or hot showers.
As long as you don't completely soak in a bath, you’ll be fine.
PLEASE Avoid swimming: NO pools, lakes, beaches or oceans. Stay away from submerging your new tattoo in any bath, hot tub or any body of water until your tattoo is completely healed.
Can I wear Sunscreen after getting a new tattoo?
If you have a new tattoo, you can't apply sunscreen to it until it's fully healed. Instead, cover your tattoo with loose clothing to avoid exposing it to direct sunlight. Better yet, just stay out of the sun.
Once your tattoo heals, we suggest you use sunscreen to protect the longevity of your tattoo.
How long should I wait before working out (after getting a tattoo)?
We suggest that you wait at least 48 hours before strenuous physical activity and heavy sweating. The important words here are “at least.”
It generally takes 4- 6 weeks for a wound to heal.
What type of lotion or soap should I use?
Always using fragrance-free, hypoallergenic soap and moisturizer when caring for a tattoo, as harsh chemicals and fragrances can irritate and even damage freshly tattooed skin
It is important to make sure you wash your hands before you wash the area around your tattoo.
